JOIN US AS WE CREATE A BOOK HONORING

WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE AND THE 19TH AMENDMENT!

The year 2020 will mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving many women in the United States the right to vote. To honor this, Little Red Bird will be putting together a comic anthology sharing stories about the women's suffrage movement and its effects on America.

We're looking for creators who identify as female and non-binary artists who have been affected by this landmark amendment to help create this book, the release of which will coincide with the centennial anniversary in August 2020.

Even more exciting, we'll be releasing the book in conjunction with the centennial festivities at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park in Seneca Falls, NY--home of the first Women's Rights Convention!

Little Red Bird will be publishing the anthology through a Kickstarter campaign to be launched early 2020. This will be the seventh Kickstarter for LRB and second comic anthology produced by us. (To learn more about our first anthology, visit littleredbird.press/blocked. To see our other Kickstarters, visit kickstarter.com/profile/allyshwed/created.) Interested? Here are some more details:

Commissions

  • Comics will range from approximately 2-10 pages.

  • To preserve a narrative thread across diverse art styles, we’ll be asking that all artists color their comics with a limited palette (to be specified upon commission.)

  • We will not be pairing solo writers or artists, but teams are welcome!  All compensation will be shared among collaborations.

  • We will also be commissioning illustrators for single-page artwork.  Feel free to specify your preference for this in your application.

  • All commissioned work will remain the property of its respective creator(s). Specifications will be outlined in a contract to be signed upon selection.

Compensation

  • Creators/creative teams will receive $25 per page, to be broken down accordingly: $15 per page guaranteed upon completion of the comic, regardless of the success of the Kickstarter campaign; an additional $10+ contingent upon the success of our campaign.

  • Creators/creative teams will also receive 10 copies of the anthology, contingent upon the success of our Kickstarter, with the option of purchasing additional copies at a discounted wholesale rate throughout the book's print run.
